Discovering the essence of time.

I also explore the idea of the oath as it relates to the words Shavout (Pentecost) Sheva (7) and Shabbat.  How does the “oath” play into the ideology of these Hebrew words.

How does all of this relate to covenant, oath and time?  We explore these idea and more in this class.

Covenants #8

‍‍11 Shevat 5769 - February 04, 2009 By: Dr. Walter Oakley Category: Torah Focus

I begin this lesson by taking a look at Yermiyahu (Jeremiah) 31:31. I gave a little background to the text for context.  Then, I look at the terminology of the text pointing out the different phrases uses with regards to HaShem and G-d.

I also look at the creative process as a means of understanding covanantal witnesses. If the Torah is to be eternal as we have learned how can G-d establish a “New Covenant” and abrogate the Torah?

I look at the idea of chesed as a means of understanding the covenantal process.

I look at the power of blessing as a means of connecting to G-d.

I conclude with the essence of time in relation to the festivals and our relation to them.
