Tuesdays on ARBA4 / Torah Focus
Midrashim continues with the series Mesorah of Mark. . This series continues our look at the “Gospel” of Mark from a new and exciting approach. We will take some time to look at the Tradition (Mesorah) or Mark with a new thesis in mind. This thesis postulates the idea that Mark was written in a Mishnaic fashion. The Mesorah” of Mark was transmitted to Mark by Peter his mentor and Sage. It will take us some time to work this thesis out. However, we are excited that this work will be full of revelation concerning Yeshua our Messiah.

Program #81 – Elul and Teshuva #5 “A look at the Soul”
In this program we look at the varied views of the soul. We have heard teachings that depict man as a trichotomy and dichotomy. Are these really the views of the Bible? Are these really Shaul’s (Paul) views? Or, was Shaul saying something deeper? Before we can repair the damage caused by sin we must understand how we were created. This may bse a different approach. Nevertheless it captures the essence of the Biblical view of the soul.

Program #80 – Elul and Teshuva #4 “Repairing the Damage caused by sin”
In this program we look at the connections we have to the Torah as a means for purifying ourselves from the sins of the year. We look at Perki Avot 4:2 where we are told that the consequence of a mitzvah is a mitzvah and that the consequence of sin is sin. This reminds us of the passage where we are told that what we sow is what we reap. We look at how to stop the process and find a path towards purity.

This program continues the look at the month of Elul as the month of repentance.

Program #78 – Elul and Teshuva #2 “The Neshama”
In this program continues the look at the month of Elul as the month of repentance. In this program we begin to look at the internal contamination of the soul (Nefesh/ Neshamah) by sin. This program is preparatory for a look at the genuine role of Teshuvah and the Mitzvot. This evening marks the transition into the period of introspection, called Teshuvah. During this time it is customary we begin to look inward.

“Let us make man”
This program initiates a look at the Biblical phrase “Let us make man in our image.” We have delved into the age old argument as to who the “US” could possibly be. We look at the text rather throughly to see if we can find clues as to who the “US” could possibly be. It is profound to look and actually see the Biblical text explain this phrase. This is the first in a two part series on this phrase.

“The L-RD G-d”
This program looks at the Biblical phrase L-RD G-d. Why does the text switch from the exclusive term G-d (Elohim) to the combined phrase “L-RD G-d”? This program looks at this idea as a means to explain the nature of man and the Torah. Shaul suggests that the Torah kills (the letter kills) in his letter to the Corinthians. Why does he say this? Is this a negative statement towards the Torah or does it explain is some way of controlling our yetzer hara?

“The Yetzer Hara”
In this program I build on the idea that man is the creation of earth and breath of G-d. This gives man a dual nature of sorts. This helps us explain the propensity towards the natural mundane world. However, it creats a great question. Why did G-d give us a Yetzer hara?

Spirituality, The Korbanot #2 / קרבנות ב
In this program I continue my series within a series on the Korbanot and their relation to spirituality. I delve deeper into the understanding of the allegorical interpretation of the korbanot found in Vayikra (Leviticus) chapter 1. I first look at the varied levels of Rabbinic Hermeneutics then launch the discussion in to a comparative between Romans Chapter 12 and Leviticus chapter 1. I further elaborate on Shaul’s phrase concerning “living sacrifices” from his letter to the Romans Chapter 12.
