Yeshua in the Synagogue Part #2

What happened to the Haftarah reading of Yeshiyahu (Isaiah) 61:1-2?

In this class, we continued our study on the Shema and how this prayer was used in the time of Yeshua.
We further studied various scriptures to be able to place the time line of Luke 4:16-20.  What happened to the Haftarah reading of Yeshiyahu (Isaiah) 61:1-2? We discuss the problems and look tom ancient sources to find our answer. We further our discussion with Zechariah 8:23 and the possibility of this passage of scripture actually being fulfilled in these days.

Yeshua in the Synagogue

In this class we look at Yeshua in the Synagogue.  Luke Chapter four sets Yeshua in the Synagogue reading the Haftaerah passages from Yeshiyahu (Isaiah). 61.  It seems plausable that these passages are Yuval (Jubilee) passages.  What all did Yeshua do in this service.  We look at Alfred Edershiem’s book “The life and Times of Jesus the Messiah” to discover the secrets of Yeshua Shabbat experience in this Synagogue.

I continue with the allegorical interpretation of Shir HaShirim (Song of Songs – which are Solomon’s). In this lesson I begin to look at the passage which calls for the drawing of the Shulimite maden as she cries “draw me, we will run after you.”  What can this allegorical passage mean?

Jewish Liturgical Worship

This class is the second in a new study series on Torah Focus.

We delve into the origins of Jewish Liturgical Worship.  I look at the Book of Bereshit (Genesis) and reveal the number of liturgical practices that often remain hidden in the book.  These practices were the foundation for more contemporary liturgy.

As we have previously noted are using the Artscroll Siddur (Sefard) Weekday/Shabbat/Festival to help facilitate our understanding of these prayers. If you have the Siddur (Prayer book) it will be helpful in class participation.

Spirituality And Shir HaShirim

In this program I look into Rambam’s Hilchot Teshuvah as a initiation to our program.  He suggests how we should relate to HaShem.  Then we move to the allegorical interpretation of Shir HaShirim (Song of Songs – which are Solomon’s).  I take the remainder of the program to explain the opening sentences of Shir HaShirim, “Let Him kiss me with the kisses of His mouth.”    What can the allegorical interpretation of this verse possibly mean?

Please note that there are two different media files to choose from.  The first is AUDIO ONLY (MP3). The second is the usual Video that you have been accustomed to.  Also note that the Video is now coded in wide screen format.

Prayers that Yeshua (Jesus) would have Prayed (1st Class)

Shema and Ma Tovhu

This class begins a new study series on Torah Focus. For the next several weeks we will be studying prayers that were relevant during the time of Yeshua.  We start this class by looking at the structure of prayer in the Siddur. As we have previously noted are using the Artscroll Siddur (Sefard) Weekday/Shabbat/Festival to help facilitate our understanding of these prayers. If you have the Siddur (Prayer book) it will be helpful in class participation.

We look at several beginning prayers such as the Shema and how Yeshua viewed this prayer and the mitzvah to say this prayer. We also look at  Ma Tovhu as a means for starting the day.

Spirituality, A Practical View

In this program I begin to move from definitive spirituality to practical Spirituality.  I look at examples of those who viewed sin as a rejection of the presence of G-d.  I look at those who sin as a serious offense against G-d. Likewise, I look at varied views of fearing G-d.  In conclusion we begin to look at the idea of D’kut.  What is D’vkut?  We explain in the conclusion of this program.  The idea of D’vkut will form the foundation for the remainder of our programs on this subject.

Please note that there are two different media files to choose from.  The first is AUDIO ONLY (MP3). The second is the usual Video that you have been accustomed to.  Also note that the Video is now coded in wide screen format.

A Taste of Hebrew #43 – B’dal (Mavdeel)

This program concludes our work on the sixth verse of the first chapter of Bereshit.

I work on the phrase “mavdeel” looking to the prefix and then the word itself and its lexical meanings.  This word will allow us to conclude the sixth verse of Bereshit chapter 1
