The month of Elul

What is the Biblical month of Elul all about?

We begin our discussion concerning the Biblical calendar.  We begin by discussing the 40 days of repentance (teshuvah).  What does the Hebrew word “teshuvah” really mean?   We discuss this word and the idea of Teshuavah.

We move into the book of Ephesians where Shaul (Paul) addresses the “saints” and the “elect.”   We discuss these idea and elaborate in some detail.

This will be the discussion for the next couple of weeks.

We have included an outline of notes taken during the class.  Download them here.

Up To Jerusalem

4 Elul 5768 - September 03, 2008 By: Dr. Walter Oakley Category: Torah Focus

In this class I discuss the path of the fact that man is multi-dimensional.   Then we progress to Zecheriah 8:23 where we discuss the fact that HaShem states that the Gentile would take hold, take hold of the corner of the Jewish man’s garment.  We discuss this idea in relation to the Gentile becoming a part of the Believing community.

Next we move to the book of Acts a look at chapter 15 where the Jerusalem council makes discisions concerning the Gentile and his relationship with HaShem.  Here we discuss, in some detail the the Jewish sect that demanded that Gentile be circumcised before they can be “saved.”

We also discuss Yeshua as Mashiach ben Yoseph.
